About

KA Kitesurfing Adventure Sports was established in 2009 and since starting have taught hundreds of satisfied students. Our aim is to teach in a safe, well structured and fun environment ensuring that everyone enjoys the chosen activity and fulfils their potential. We now see many of our students on the beach kitesurfing, SUPing and Coasteering independently and are very proud to have introduced them to the activities we are so passionate about.

IMG_0782 In January 2016 KA were awarded an AALA licence allowing us to host groups of children independent from parents to Kitesurf, Stand Up Paddle board and Coasteer.

Pete Wollaston

Pete came to Team KA in 2014 to learn to kitesurf. He picked the sport up incredibly quickly and soon became a qualified BKSA instructor. Since then Pete has started working for the team full time each summer and is qualified in Coasteering and SUP.

One of the nicest and most capable people you can meet Pete is now a major part of the team and helps with all aspects of the KA business.

During the winter months Jonny lives in Val D’isere working for Surefoot making and selling custom ski boots. He has started his BASI ski instructor qualifications and packs in as much skiing as possible.

Jonny is an extremely enthusiatic, talented and dedicated person always looking for the next upcoming watersport and adventure, he’s sure to make your experience with KA the best it can be.

Emily Grimes (Grimesatron)

It made perfect sense for Emily to join team KA as our surf instructor as she’s always scouting around Northumberland for the best wave on offer. She is incredibly passionate and dedicated to surfing, and her enthusiasm can’t help but rub off on you.

In the four years since she started surfing Emily has become ingrained in the UK surf scene, chasing the best swells over the winter and surfing some serious waves. She was the first woman to compete in Scarboroughs big wave comp, King Of The Point. As well as being our surf coach, she is a qualified maths teacher and a writer, having had surf articles published in both Wavelength and Carve magazine.

Charlotte Harrison

Charlotte is probably the most qualified member of team KA and definately the bubbliest. She recently qualified as a SUP instructor and is already delivering fun, exciting, safe sessions at Beadnell and on the river Tyne.

in 2017 Charlotte completed an STCW 10 qualification in maritime watch keeping where she gained ISAF Sea survival, VHF radio licence, level 2 powerboat amongst many others. She has also completed a Paediatric first aid and defib and resusitation qualification whilst working as a kids rugby coach.

Toby Cooke (Lord Tetley)

Toby has been working with us for the last couple of seasons as an assistant for Team KA.  Now a completely invaluable part of the Team he works in all aspects of the business. Whether he is kitesurfing, SUPing or Coasteering he is always there to help with a great big smile and loads of patience and time for everyone.

In 2018 at the age of 15 he became the junior (under 18)  kitesurfing freestyle British champion. A well deserved result for his commitment and dedication.

Anna Little

Anna is a one of the most enthusiastic people you will meet, she is a qualified level 2 BSUPA paddle board instructor, a national race coach and highly qualified personal trainer running her own very successful business.

In 2019 Anna finished fifth in the womens GB SUP 14 ft national series and is a Fanatic sponsored team rider.

Always smiling and full of fun she is a true professional and a huge asset to Team KA when she has time to help out.

Bruce (Iron) Smith.

Bruce is a qualified BSUPA paddle board instructor and also an experienced coasteering guide.

He is a self employed personal trainer and has competed at a high level of triathlon including Iron Man. He now spends most of his time training on his SUP race board and is getting stronger by the day. Bruce finished 5th (just ahead of Kev) in the National 14ft GB SUP race series and is a prominent national racer. Bruce is heavily involved with the Northern SUP race team and runs regular coaching sessions.

Thoroughly nice chap and another valued member of the KA team.
